Keeps going and going and going.

25 July 2005

I haven’t blogged for a while. I’ve just been too busy at work. And that drains my creativity. It’s been really hot too, and that just drains my energy in general. Temperatures over 25° Celsius should be banned. I mean, if it’s cold you can always put on warmer clothes, but if it’s too hot you can only take so much off without causing a scene…
Which I guess is why I’m so glad to be leaving for holiday on Friday. I need to recharge my batteries. Not that I expect that it will be any cooler in Boston, Toronto or Philadelphia, but at least it’ll be a change of scenery. And they do have AC in North America.
Now I don’t mean to say that I have to take a holiday to recharge my creativity. In between, I do find some stuff to keep my batteries from completely running out of juice.
Recently it’s been a digression in my choice of musical entertainment. Or I guess you could say it’s been a blast from the past… On the 9th of July, Iron Maiden played a concert in Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium. There was something like 59,000 people there. Now of course I wasn’t there myself, I was in Düsseldorf. Working. But thanks to SVT (Swedish public television) I was able to watch the entire concert from start to finish. And I guess I should also thank my Internet provider and the developers behind DC++ too… ;)
Anyway, the concert was really cool, and it reminded me of all the times I saw this band play in the 80’s. Have I mentioned that I was actually at two of the four shows at the Long Beach Arena that became the classic live album “Live After Death”? Or that I was in the front row at the show on Sunday evening? Or that I saw these guys play on their Number Of The Beast tour as the supporting act for the Scorpions on their Blackout tour? Or that I bought my first Maiden record (the Women in Uniform EP) in Tokyo? Probably not. But I didn’t want to talk about all that. I just wanted to say that it’s been a lot of fun listening to all this old NWOBHM the last two weeks.
And now that I think about it, I guess I really do need a holiday…
